Guitar Nut Thursday! Words from r45’s lead ax-man.
One of the few “stage” guitars I’m using for R45 shows is my newly acquired EVH Frankenstein Relic. I’ve always been fascinated by EVH’s original striped “Frankie,” and when I learned that these were being produced in solid colors rather than the famous striped versions, I knew I had to have one.
Now, you might be wondering, “Why not a striped one? Why not have a copy of what Eddie himself had?” Well, I love guitars that are reminiscent of famous players’ instruments, but not exact duplicates. So, owning this guitar is a tip of the hat to Eddie, but not an attempt to replicate his look and sound. Personally, I adore the red finish because it’s synonymous with R45 branding, but, if I’m being honest, I had a hankering for a black one, ha.
This guitar is quite loud, and you’ll definitely hear it if you come to see us. We hope to see you at an R45 show soon!
